Main issues

Originally, the client operated an online store using the Magento 1 platform. However, over time, the company encountered several challenges:

01

Maintenance

To maintain the security of their Magento 1 online store, the client needed to install multiple security patches. Unfortunately, these updates frequently led to conflicts within Magento 1 components, resulting in a substantial increase in the website maintenance costs.

02

Conversions

The Magento 1 online store’s design was outdated, and the checkout process was cumbersome, spanning five screens. Moreover, the store suffered from slow loading speeds. These issues detracted from the customer experience, adversely affecting the customer journey and decreasing the conversion rate.

03

Invoices

Given that the client operates in the B2B sector, they needed sophisticated functionality, such as the ability to send invoices. Unfortunately, Magento 1 lacked the necessary extensions to fulfill all of the client’s business requirements.

04

Marketplace integration

Richter Gabelstapler’s business strategy involved integrating with third-party marketplaces, a feature not supported by Magento 1. Recognizing the need to upgrade, Richter Gabelstapler sought to migrate their online store from Magento 1.7 to Magento 2.0 by relying on our proven Magento 2 migration services.

Our solution

01

Migrating to Magento 2

For successful data migration, we used the official Magento Migration Tool. Using it, our dev team was able to migrate:

Product data (product attributes, categories, ratings and reviews, manufacturers, etc.)

Customer information (logins, passwords, order history, etc.)

Order information (orders, payments, invoices, etc.)

SEO setup (titles, descriptions, metadata, redirects, etc.)

02

Setting the Magento 2 theme

To improve the website’s conversion rate and optimize the customer journey, we implemented a new design and reconfigured the layout in a way that was specifically tailored for B2B customers. This redesign focused on creating a mobile-friendly interface, offering an improved shopping experience that aligns with the needs and preferences of B2B clientele.

03

Integrating Magento 2 invoice payments

To cater to B2B customers, we integrated the Magento 2 Invoice Payment extension into the website. This extension enables automatic invoice creation, allowing customers to pay for their orders on account, a payment method highly favored in the B2B sector.

04

Working with M2E Pro Amazon & eBay integrations

To expand the range of sales channels, we implemented M2E Pro, native Amazon and eBay solutions tailored for Magento 2 websites. This integration seamlessly connects the website’s back end with eBay and Amazon, allowing for listing products directly from the Magento product catalog. This provided the client with robust capabilities to manage orders, regulate pricing, and synchronize inventory across various channels.

How we did it

We conducted a comprehensive assessment to gather detailed requirements about data migration needs, along with specific features and integrations the client required for their new Magento 2 online store.
We initiated the process by installing Magento 2 on the client’s server. Following this, we installed and configured the Magento Data Migration tool, utilizing Composer for its implementation on a fresh Magento 2 installation. This tool is specifically designed to facilitate data transfer from Magento 1 to Magento 2 databases, guided by a set of rules outlined in an XML file. Within this file, we meticulously configured the connection setup for the source (the client’s existing Magento 1 installation) and destination (the new Magento 2 website).
The client opted for a predesigned Magento 2 theme. To enable the client to evaluate the theme’s impact on the store, we installed it on a development site. This site was a basic Magento setup without any existing data, allowing for a clear demonstration of the theme’s features and functionality. As soon as we finalized the theme, our design team updated the design of the client’s store.
We integrated the Magento 2 Invoice Payment feature to enable automatic invoicing on the website. Additionally, we integrated M2E Pro, allowing the client to efficiently receive and manage orders from Amazon and eBay directly through their Magento 2 admin panel.
